Comfort and Joy
Advent and Christmas are all around us. Lights, carols, candles, shopping, trees! And also, struggle is all around us. Financial shortfalls, flu, cold weather, snow and rain and slush.
Life is never all one thing. Eugene Peterson says that following Jesus is a 'long obedience in the same direction.' Sometimes it is trudging through snow, and sometimes it is a stroll among twinkling lights.
Wherever you are this Christmas, I hope you will consider taking a step with a church family that walks with you in the love of Christ. Christmas Eve at 4 p.m. will be child-friendly, joyous and maybe a tiny bit chaotic, but also full of light and color and opportunity to remember that God is with us in the midst of it all.
